Well done to all our staff and pupils for taking part in World Book Day and dressing up as characters from their favourite books.
Congratulations to Lucy Meagher, Ellie O'Donnell, Alexis Roche-Nagle and Lucy Burke who won the World Book Day Easons vouchers. For January and February, all children participated in 5 lessons with the East Cork Academy. The children built robots using Lego We-Do which they then added motion sensors to to make them move.
Using iPads they coded their robots using the Scratch programme. They could then get the robots to move and make various adjustments to see how they could improve their builds. These lessons were great fun and provided lots of learning opportunities for the children. This month, the Senior room engaged in Izak 9 maths - a fun, dynamic and interactive way for children to learn mathematics.
On Thursday 27th February, the Junior room took part in a Spring nature walk spotting and identifying various items on their check lists.
As part of our SPHE programme we received a visit from Community Gardai to discuss relevant topics such as cyber bullying, staying safe online and making good choices.
Fiona from the Road Safety Authority also dropped in to complete a road safety workshop with all the students. Both the Senior and Junior rooms enjoyed flipping and sampling pancakes for Pancake Tuesday.
All the children in the school took part in a six week gymnastics programme with Kool School.
On Thursday 13th February the Senior and Junior rooms gathered in the hall for a gymnastics display for the parents. A huge thanks to Karen for doing such excellent work with the children. It was amazing to see how much the children picked up in such a short space of time. |
