With the Lismore mobile scientists the Junior Room explored survival in the Antarctic. They learned how some animals use blubber to keep themselves warm in cold climates.
They also made snowstorms in a jar. All the children really enjoyed the hands on activities and learning. This week the Senior Room were busy making strawberry cheesecakes. They also wrote this up as part of their procedural writing.
Yum! We finished up the school term with Halloween games and fancy dress. All the children took part in the fun which included 'wrap the mummy' and bobbing for apples. A fantastic day was had by all.
See you all next term! Wednesday 23rd October saw us attending the cross country running in Marlfield.
Well done to Caitriona Tobin, Fred French-Davis and Max O'Reilly who came second in their races. The children had great fun playing maths games in the hall for maths week.
A huge thanks to Suzanne, Marie and Noelle for volunteering to help out on the day. On Friday 18th October the school took a field trip to Clonmel. The Senior room visited the South Tipperary Arts Centre to view the Inktober exhibition and take part in some looking and responding activities.
The whole school attended the Museum on the Move exhibition at the Clonmel Museum where they learned all about animals that lived in Ireland during ice age times and those that continue to exist today. The children thoroughly enjoyed their day out, with the Museum in particular being a big hit. |
