This month in Killurney National School we had Maths week from 14th – 18th. For Maths week the senior room were learning chess (it was very confusing) but it was easier as we went along. Everyone enjoyed it.
The junior room carried out a fun Gruffalo STEM project. They tried to make the tallest log house for the snake from cocktail sticks and marshmallows. They then created tally charts to see how many times Gruffalo was mentioned in the story. They also made tally charts on Halloween songs and played board games on Fridays.
On the 16th of October we did Cross Country running in Clonmel. We had lots of fun. Five pupils got medals. We were all very proud and it was a brilliant day for us.
On the 22nd of October we had a match against Killusty. We had great fun but unfortunately we lost the match. In the end it was extremely fun and I’m excited to go up against them again because everybody enjoyed themselves and I’m excited to see if we can beat them next time.
The senior room did a fun STEM challenge where we had to make a scarecrow for our last day before midterm break and when the time came we all brought them in and even the parents got competitive! It was very fun and I hope we will be able to do something similar again.
